LIGHT DIESEL OIL

Light Diesel Oil (LDO) is a refined petroleum product, a type of diesel fuel used for
various industrial, commercial, and agricultural applications. Here’s a
detailed overview:

Definition:
LDO is a middle distillate fuel oil, lighter than Heavy Diesel Oil (HDO) but
heavier than petrol.

Characteristics:

 1.Density: 0.85-0.90 g/cm³

2.Viscosity: 2.5-5.5 mm²/s (at 40°C)

3.Sulphur content: 0.05-0.5% (max)

4.Flash point: 55-66°C

5.Cetane number: 45-55

Uses:

 1.Industrial applications (generators, boilers, furnaces)

2.In Aluminium Extrogen Industries for Furnance

3.Galvnising Industries for Heating

4.Forging and Casting for Heating

Benefits:

1.Cleaner burning, reduced emissions

2.Easy to store and handle

3.Good cold-weather performance

Comparison with other diesel types:

1.Heavy Diesel Oil (HDO): thicker, higher sulphur content

2.Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD): lower sulphur content (<15 ppm)

3.Bio-Diesel: blended with renewable fuels

Availability:

LDO is widely available in various regions, including Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Specifications:

LDO meets various international standards, including:

 1.ASTM D975 (USA)

2.EN 590 (Europe)

3.IS 1460 (India
